Babur Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Wasim Akram joined the list of players from Pakistan, who blocked their Instagram handle in India, as the Pahgam continued on Friday after the terror attack. The list of restricted accounts also includes Test Captain Shaan Masood, Pacers Hasan Ali and Naseem Shah, Batter Imam-ul-Haq, all rounder Shadab Khan and former stars Shoaib Akhtar and Shahid Afridi. Apart from this, the account of former Prime Minister of Pakistan and cricket captain Imran Khan is also inaccessible in India.
The user who tried to reach his Instagram page from India has met with the message: “It is not available in India. The reason is that we have complied with legal request to ban this material.” Note from Instagram said, “We got a legal request to ban this material. We reviewed it against our policies and a legal and human rights evaluate. After a review, we banned access to the material at the location where it goes against the local law.”
Twenty -six people, most of the tourists, were killed and many were injured when terrorists set fire to a meadow near Pahlgam, a popular tourist city in South Kashmir on 22 April. The government has since been torn on Pakistani social media accounts, which is followed in India.
On Thursday, Arshad Madem, who won the Olympic gold medal of Pakistan’s Olympic gold medal, also blocked his Instagram account in India.
Earlier in the week, former Pakistan cricketers Shoaib Akhtar, Shahid Afridi and Basit Ali’s YouTube channels were blocked after “an order from the government related to national security or public order” in India.
The central government officially blocked 16 Pakistani YouTube channels allegedly to spread “stimulating and communally sensitive materials”. Don News, Irshad Bhatti, Sama TV, Eri News, Bol News, Rafatar, The Pakistan Reference, Geo News, Sama Sports, GNN, Uzer Cricket, Omar Cheema Exclusive, Asma Shirazi, Munib Farooq, Suno News and Razi Nama are other Pakistani channels in India.
