Colorado avalanche captain Gabriel Landskog will play on Friday for his first professional game AHL affiliation for his first professional game in almost three years.
The AHL team of avalanche, Colorado Eagles announced after the morning skate that the AHL affiliated for Landskog Vegas Golden Nights would play in his game against the Henderson Silver Nights.
On Wednesday, the avalanche sent Eagles to Landskog for conditioning stent. Landeskog has spent the last few days with eagles, who play more than an hour in Lavland, Colorado, in an attempt to be ready to bid for the club to win their fourth Stanley Cup.
Landeskog’s last appearance was in game 6 of the 2022 Stanley Cup final. He led the avalanche for the third championship in the history of the club. He will then recall the entire 2022-23 season with a knee injury and then in May 2023 will undergo a knee cartilage replacement surgery. Landskogs will then remember the entire 2023-24 season.
32 -year -old, traveling with the team in recent years and working away from the team. However, this season has gradually spent more practice time with landscogue, which further added the belief that it could be part of his playoff plans.
AVS coach Zred Bednar told reporters on Friday that he would monitor the progress of landscogue and there is no plan beyond playing against Silver Nights. Does AVs need an extended look at Landeskog, they will have the option that Eagles had four more games before the next Saturday ends its regular session.
Getting the landscogue back in the playoff will probably provide not only avalanche with his captain, but a two-way winger that gives them another top-six and/or top-nine option, depending on how they use him.
Entering on Friday, Avalanch (48–28–4) finished third in the Central Division Standing with two road games against Los Angeles Kings before finishing the regular season against Aahim Duck on Sunday.
