Australian chief selector George Bailey said that veteran all -rounder Michelle Marsh is still under the team’s plan, which is in plans for things for the much -awaited upcoming Ashes series against England.
Perth’s all-rounder, Marsh, was spoiled after a poor performance with the bat after the fourth Test against India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy earlier this year. Sri Lanka Tour Snob then ignored Marsh for a two-match Test series, while suffering from lower back injury.
Belly said, “I don’t think his red-ball career is over. I don’t think he was scoring runs that he wanted or we wanted when we leave him out of the Test side, but with the bat there is still an incredibly exciting skill, the way he could open a game,” said Belly.
He said, “If you look ahead for a team like England and the way they play their cricket, the way they prepare their team, I think they have found a skill set there that could be helpful,” he said.
The Lucknow Super Giants for the Indian Premier League 2025 season have been given the role of a opener with Aiden Markram of South Africa.
Former Australian cricketer, Bailey also believes that Marsh is a central person in the national set-up and will play a “incredibly important” role for the team.
“I still feel that he has got an incredibly important role. He has some injuries issues, and towards the back end of summer, he was struggling with his back.
