Once “fit and healthy”, a 25 -year -old woman, whose lower back pain was initially wrong, died of bone cancer in less than a year when a tumor was finally discovered in her pelvis.
When Kate Drummond began to experience back pain in 2020, he initially admitted that it was due to “poor posture” or excessive exercise, according to his 33 -year -old sister Kelly Drummond.
After the pain in his hip in May 2021, he visited the A&E department of his local hospital in Dewon and diagnosed “Possible sciatica”, and Kelly said that it was noted that he was “one of the youngest patients with (doctors)” ever with the position “.
After searching for an MRI scan through private care, Kate was given a “life-changing” news that in August 2021 there was a “grape-shaped” tumor in his pelvis.
He treated for several months, but in January 2022 “rapidly” deteriorated as the cancer aggressively spread to his lungs, liver and other bones.
Kate’s death in March 2022, less than a year after the discovery of early tumors.
Her sister Kelly is sharing her story for the first time to urge others to “listen to her body” and “lawyer for herself”.

Kelly, a private instructor from Devon, said, “We will not be foolish that things may be slightly different.
“When Kate’s tumor was found, it was large, he described it as a grape shape and suggested that he could have cancer in his body for two years.
“Some began as a low back pain, turned into cancer within a few days, which then turned into many cancerous tumors in almost every part of her body – rapid progress was shocking.
“The story of Kate shows how unpredictable the cancer is, and clearly, the early diagnosis is shown again and time to save life.”
Kelly said that Kate, who worked in customer care for a local company, first saw something “not quite right” in late 2020 late summer, when he painted “Ruk -Rukkar” hurt the lower back.
Kelly said, “She placed it down to work from home, it was Kovid epidemic, and she thought it was due to a bad posture or a little uncomfortable work.”
“As of January 2021, the pain was more frequent and there was some new pain in his hip.”

Kelly said that Kate thought that the new pain could be due to the routine of her exercise and potentially “over-training”.
By April that year, however, the symptoms deteriorated and his hip was “warm to touch” and showed “minor swelling”.
Kelly said Kate began to take help from her GP, which had determined her pain killers before performing blood tests in May 2021, in which an indicator for inflammation was revealed that it was “quite elevated”.
Kate was sent to an A&E on 27 May 2021, where he had further blood tests and an X-ray, and it was reported that it was probably a sciatica-a general condition where pain is felt when the sciatica nerve, which moves below the lower back, is irritated or complicated.
Kelly said, “She said she was one of the youngest patients she had seen with this position, especially at the peak,” Kelly said.
He said that during this time, Kate’s pain was deteriorating, she was “struggling with everything”, and her mobility began to decline.

A spinal physiotherapist was worried about his symptoms, said Kelly said, and Kate decided to take his care private for the MRI scan.
On July 7, 2021, Kate was informed that the scan revealed a large tumor in its pelvic area, with several deposits on its spine.
After a biopsy at Birmingham Hospital, Kate was detected on August 3, 2021 in bones or soft tissue, a rare cancer, EVINGARCO.
It was found “in the weeks of weeks” that the disease was spread to Kate’s lungs, liver, skull, jaw and other bones in his body.
Kelly said, “The news was a life-changing, mainly for Kate, but also for her friends and family,” Kelly said.
“I felt shock and mistrust, but also a little guilty as well as you feel that ‘I could have more to push him to seek help soon?”
“It all seemed really untrue and it should not be so with anyone, especially someone fit and healthy.”

Kate was given emergency radiotherapy and started a course of chemotherapy treatment for several months, where Kelly said he showed signs of improvement.
Kelly said, “She remained so strong and so positive the whole time, it was beyond us, and we will never understand it.”
He added Kate’s health as a “rapid decline” since January 2022 as his liver and kidneys shut down from the disease.
Signs of bone cancer
NHS
The main symptoms include:
- Bone pain
- Inflammation and redness (swelling) over a bone, which can make agitation difficult when affected near a joint
- A noticeable lump on a bone

- Problems revolving around – for example, walk with a lame
“It all turned from there; it was a rapid downward spiral that came out from anywhere,” Kelly said.
Kate died on 17 March 2022. Kelly said that he and his family members are still struggling to process the damage.
“Kate was never to die, it was an aggressive cancer, but was never given a terminal diagnosis for the last few weeks,” she said.
“It just shows how much, very sudden things can change.”

Kelly said that Kate’s message would be “listening to her body” and “lawyer for himself”.
Kelly said, “She would like to encourage people to take maximum advantage of your life, which you are lucky.”
“Don’t wait, laugh more, I think she will say.”
Kate’s family and friends have continued to honor him in his day-to-day life, so that he should live more for a moment.
