The return of pebbles in the smartwatch segment has made a lot of splash. Ultimately, the brand is often credited with kickstarting the entire segment. Interestingly, another experienced – but from retro gaming pocket – is trying his hands in smartwatch.
Attari 2600 Call my play watch as Namaste, which only works in the abundance of retro-chickpeas aura for a pop. The Attari is not telling words to the target audience of this smartwatch. “Show your love of retro gaming, right on your wrist,” proudly says the product page.
Retro gaming is there in the name Callback. This attic is a direct tribute to 2600 console. I cannot see the similarity of hardware there, but it is an on-display element that will shake some retro apathy. The big draw here is that you can play four attic 2600 games on Smartwatch.
Dial apathy
If you are worried, physical side buttons serve as input controls to play centenary, missile command, pong and super brakeout. The Attari says that the Crown and the button are designed to serve a classic controller feel, while the rotating acts as a crown paddle.
Attari will also let you choose from game visuals and retro artwork so that you can flaunt them as smartwatch wallpapers. The company is also serving the Classic Attari Sound Effects that you can install as an alarm and timer tone.
As far as the glasses go, the IP68-rated smartwatch has a metal bezel, while the sensor stack allows you to measure heart rate, track steps and keep an eye on calorie burn figures.
Dumb, in a smart way

Here is a strange part. There is no Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connectivity support on this smartwatch. Why? “No Bluetooth and no Wi-Fi means freedom from nonstop notifications,” says Attari.
It runs the clock that the company refers to myplaywatch OS. It is also an asymmetry. Attari says that the OS will never get updates, which means that the device will not run the risk of becoming obsolete. As long as the device is in a piece, you can keep using it.
Attari 2600 My Play Watch is currently for pre-order from the company’s website and will start shipping in June. Taking the path of generosity, the attic will also offer a pair of stylish interdependent watch bands in the retail package.
