Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni said in a brief update that the Pope had slept well and had breakfast while sitting in an armchair.
The Pope’s position was stable and showed “minor improvements” in the results of recent blood tests, the Vatican said in his latest medical statement on Wednesday evening.
Francis suffers from double pneumonia, a serious infection that can provoke both lungs and scare and make more difficult to breathe.
Two senior Catholic Prelets hoped for the recovery of the Pope.
“I think there is a feeling of hope, and he will come through it, thank God,” said Spanish Cardinal Juan Jose Omela. Italian archbishop Giusepe Satriano called the Pope a “fighter” and said: “He will win this fight.”
The Vatican had earlier said that the Pope had a polymicrobial infection, which occurs when two or more micro -organisms are involved, saying that it is the required time to deal with the “complex clinical status” in the hospital. Will remain
A Vatican officer who did not want to take a name because he was not authorized to speak about the Pope’s position, said on Thursday that Francis was not on a ventilator and was breathing on his own.
The Pope was capable of walking in his hospital room, taking some phone calls and continuing some paperwork, the officer said.
The Vatican is expected to give another update on the Pope’s position on Thursday evening.
The Vatican official media outlet reported that a wave of support for Francis came from all over the world. Many national bishop conferences were also organizing special days of prayer for the Pope.
Rome resident Edel Kusinota was outside the Jameli Hospital on Thursday and said she was grateful to improve her condition. “I’m so happy that he’s a little better,” he said.
Francis on Wednesday received a trip from Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni, who was his first known VIP visitors in the hospital. She said she was “alert and responsible”.
The Pope joked with some people with Meloni, who were betting on his death, the Italian newspaper Koriare Dela Sera told on Thursday. Meloni said in a statement, “He has not lost his cosmic spirit.”
Pontif’s latest disease is the latest in a long history of health problems that he suffers over the years.
