Peshawar Zalmi won a dominant win over Multan Sultans by 120 runs in the ninth match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 10 played at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Saturday with the help of four wickets and three wickets of Arif Yakub.
Chasing the target of a difficult 228-R, the Sultan’s batting unit Usman Khan came to light at a short 107 in 15.5 overs despite a 44-run knock.
The Sultans made an unstable start for their innings, as they lost their captain Mohammad Rizwan (15) with just 27 runs on the board on the first distribution of the fourth over.
After the initial hiccup, Usman included Shai Hope in the middle and added 36 runs for the second wicket to keep the Sultans in hunting.
Important partnership ended with Shai Hope (20) in the seventh over with a victim of Arif Yakub.
His dismissal provoked a match-defying collapse, which saw the Sultans lost the remaining eight wickets, including their main base, excluded for only 44 runs and as a result, for a short 107.
Usman remained the top scorer for Sultans with 22 balls, with four fours and three sixes.
Ali Raza was a standout bowler for Zalmi, he took four wickets for just 21 runs in his four overs. Arif Yakub took three wickets, while Mitchell Owen hit twice.
Zalmi’s decision to bat first returned as the former champions had increased to 5/2 in 2.1 overs as their two openers. Saim Ayub and Babar Azam ended cheaply.
After the initial recession, wicketkeeper Batter Mohammad Haris joined the Kohaler-Cadmore in the middle and began a surprising recovery.
Both of them dominated the Sultans’ bowlers to add 79 runs for the third wicket, which led to only 31 delivery.
Haris, who was the main aggressive of the stand, eventually fell victim to Ubaid Shah in the eighth over and scored 45 runs in 21 delivery, returned after scoring 45 with four fours and three sixes.
Kohaler-Cadmore was involved in another important partnership for Zalmi when he added 53 runs for the fourth wicket with Hussain Talat until Michael Bracewell was victims of Michael Bracewell, who sacked to open the first batsman Ayub.
The British remained the top scorer for Zalmi with 30-gends 52, herbs with two fours and five sixes.
Zalmi then faced another massive shock for her batting campaign when Talat was rejected by Ifatikhar Ahmed in the next over.
The left-handed batsman made a significant contribution with 29-gent 37, with three fours and one six.
His dismissal reduced Zalmi to 143/5 in 14.5 overs, but a sensational partnership between Abdul Samad and Mitchell Owen extended the 200 -run mark past.
The pair added 73 runs for the sixth wicket until David Willy got rid of Owen. He scored 34 runs in 15 delivery with the help of one four and four sixes.
On the other hand, Samad reached the stud with four fours and three sixes after scoring 40 runs in 14 delivery at the third delivery of the final.
For the Sultans, Ubaid Shah, Bracewell and Willy took two wickets, while Ifatikhar Ahmed pasted with a skull.
