Alex Cooper opens up like never before in Hulu’s upcoming docuseries
After years of helping others share their truths on her hit podcast Call Her Daddy, Alex Cooper is stepping into the spotlight herself.
Hulu’s new two-part docuseries Call Her Alex, premiering June 10, offers an intimate look at Cooper’s life, career, and the personal challenges that shaped her.
In an exclusive first look shared with People, the docuseries follows the 30-year-old podcast host as she gears up for her first live tour while reflecting on her remarkable rise in the male-dominated world of podcasting.
The trailer reveals never-before-seen footage from Cooper’s childhood, capturing her early passion for video-making and storytelling, as well as the pivotal role sports played in her youth.
However, Cooper revealed that her dreams were derailed during her time as a Division I soccer player in college, referencing a painful experience that left a lasting mark on her mental health, a subject she has described in past interviews as “traumatic” and one she’s only recently begun to unpack.
Despite that setback, Cooper says the hardship sparked a powerful motivation to rebuild her identity and find new purpose, eventually leading to the creation of Call Her Daddy, a show that would redefine podcasting for women, as per the People’s reports.
Moreover, “She changed the game,” Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy said in the trailer, reflecting on her impact in a space traditionally dominated by men.
Additionally, the series also highlights more personal moments, including Cooper’s April 2024 wedding to producer Matt Kaplan, and candid commentary from her family, including her father Bryan, on how her journey has evolved alongside her growing fame.
In this regard, Cooper said in the trailer, “I have so much more that I want to do. And I’m just getting started.”
Call Her Alex is set to premiere on June 10 on Hulu, with both episodes dropping the same day.
