Nature index metrics
The nature index uses count and shares to track research output. A country/region or an institution is counted for each article, in which at least one writer from that country/region or institution. This is the case regardless of the number of authors of an article, and it means that the same article can contribute to the count of many countries/regions or institutions.
Nature Index 2025 Energy
To brighten the contribution of an institution in a country, region, region or an article, and to ensure that they are not counted more than once, using the nature index share, a partial calculation that takes into account the author’s share on each article. The total share available per article is 1, which is shared under the notion among all authors that each contributed equally. For example, an article with 10 authors means that each writer receives a share of 0.1. For those authors who are associated with more than one institutes, the author’s share is equally divided between each institution. The total share for an institution is calculated by summarizing the stake for individual affiliated writers. This process is the same for countries/regions, although complicated by the fact that some institutions have foreign laboratories that will be counted towards host country/region’s yogas.
Adjustable share account for small annual variation in total number of articles in nature index magazines. This has come up by calculating the percentage difference in the total number of articles in the index in one year relative to the number of articles in the base year and adjusting the share values for the base year level.
The bilateral cooperation score (CS) between the two institutions A+B is the sum of each of their share, which has contributed both. A bilateral collaboration can be between any two institutions or countries/regions, co-writing of at least one article in magazines tracked by the nature index.
