Veteran anchor John Hook has announced that he is leaving the station, posting on his LinkedIn page, “After 37 years in television news, I am excited to launch markets serving my own company. Which I know well. “
HUCK has not returned texts and phone messages for comments. He posted, then moved down, post on Facebook and Instagram announced his departure. “Unfortunately, we do not comment on workers’ matters,” Fox 5 news director Tom Bell said in e-mail.
Hawk’s bio has been taken below the company’s website, showing that this step is immediately effective.
Hawk had anchored the news of the week of the week at 5, 6, 7, 10 and 11 pm, hosting the “The Rent” segment, in which the audience shared his opinion on anonymous sound mail and various news issues.
Originally Chicago’s Hawk anchored CNN headline news in the 90s. He joined Fox 5 in 2002, two years later at KCBS at Los Angeles and three at WPGH in Pittsburgh. He was inducted into the Nevada Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2010.
Haq’s philanthropic work included co-holding of Animal Foundation at the Show Dog-Adoption event at Thomas and Mac Center.
