Mumbai Indians (MI) batter Will Jacks said the team will be looking to finish as high as possible on the IPL 2025 table ahead of the final league-stage encounter against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Jaipur on Monday.
With Gujarat Titans, PBKS and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) all dropping points this week, MI still has a chance of finishing in the top two. The Hardik Pandya-led side needs a win in its final game and some help from Lucknow Super Giants against RCB to play Qualifier 1.
“The camp is feeling good. We’ve been progressing nicely throughout the whole competition. Since we’ve come back [from the break], we’ve just fit back into how we were before, and obviously, every team wants to finish as high as possible,” Jacks said during the pre-match press conference.
The Englishman suggested that his side is not concerned by the momentum drop after the break suffered by the other leading teams in the league.

“It’s just another game. Every game we play, we focus and approach in the same way. It doesn’t matter whether it was the first game or the last group game. We’ve prepared well for every opposition, and we’ll be doing the same for tomorrow,” he said.
MI’s formidable top-order has scored the lion’s share of the runs so far this season, restricting the batting impact of floaters like Jacks. But the Surrey batter said that he is happy to move up and down the order as required.
“We’ve got an incredibly strong batting line-up, and sometimes that means that some situations are better suited to other players. I’ve loved my time. It’s such a brilliant batting line-up to be a part of, and only positives have come out of it,” he explained.
The MI all-rounder has also had a limited role with the ball in hand. He has bowled just 13 overs across 12 matches and has picked six wickets at an economy rate of 8.38.
“I’m happy with the amount I’ve bowled,” Jacks reiterates. “I’ve had a mix of success, and that’s just T20 cricket. You just have to park it and move on to the next one.”
“I’ve been given a lot of confidence and a lot of control in my bowling by the captain and coach, so it’s been very relaxed out there,” he added.
