Firefighters are being urged to accept 3.2% increment.
The Fire Brigade Union (FBU) Executive Council recommends that members accept the proposal, saying that there are additional commitments to discuss the salary progress and pay for additional duties and skills.
General Secretary Steve Wright warned that “inflation-level increment will not be sufficient”, and the government should invest to protect the public and fund a large increment in future.
If accepted, the proposal will be applicable in UK from July.
The FBU members will now vote on the proposal, with the expected results before the end of May.
Mr. Wright said: “3.2% will insulating firefighters and fire control staff with inflation for a year.
“This proposal will also open the possibility of reorganization of fire service salary to identify additional skills and duties.
“But we need to clarify that inflation-level increment will not be sufficient in a long time.
“Since 2010, firefighters have lost about 12% of their salary value.
“Workers expect labor to repair the loss of penance properly.
“Firefighting and fire control staff work in the clock round, often risk their own health and safety to keep the public safe.
“The new government has the opportunity to rebuild fire service service with investment and payment reforms.
“We will push them to give them.”
