Singer Aatif Aslam recalled an early experience from his music career, stating that members of Band Noori once criticized their first track, Adat during the informal review session.
In a revived video interview shared by an Instagram account run by an Instagram account run by a fan called Anam S (@byyouraadee), Atif Aslam described the circumstances under which he first played a habit for Noori.
At that time, he said, the band was considered a major task in the music scene of Pakistan, and he asked a mutual friend to arrange a meeting for response.
“They were all sitting in a room,” Atif Aslam said in the video. “I played the song. When it was finished, most of them started commenting that it was really bad, nonsense song. Some called it cheap. He said that there was no need for this song in the market.”
According to Atif Aslam, only one person in the room reacted favorable. He did not name that person.
Despite the response, Atif Aslam continued to promote the song independently. Within a short time, AADAT was released and began to receive traction among the audience, eventually widely broadcast through local platforms and media.
The song “Aadat” was first released in December 2003 as Underground Rock Duo Jal by Atif Aslam and Goher Mumtaz. This initial release was made public through the Internet and Pakistani music channels, which quickly gained viral popularity.
At that time, Atif was the leading singer of water, and at the age of 17, he recorded “habit” using his own pocket money. The track became a young anthem almost overnight – as soon as it hit the airwaves in the end of 2003, it blew on radio and TV in Pakistan,
In the same interview, Atif Aslam said that after less than two years of early criticism, Noori members were part of the lineup in one of their concerts, performing before their sets.
