For years, the left -handed wrist spinner remained on the edge of cricket, with his rarity and the difficulty of mastery in crafts.
But in recent seasons, especially in T20, they have moved from only curiosity for sports-changer-turned their uniqueness into a profit.
This innings has reached new heights in IPL 2025. Half the way, the league’s three left-handed wrist spinners have combined for 30 wickets-the most for their type in the IPL season.
They also top the Cricviz average match effect ranking for bowling types this year. The left -arm wrist spin, in fact, the IPL 2025 has the only category with a positive overall effect.
In this boom, Chennai Super Kings ‘Noor Ahmed and Delhi Capital’ are Kuldeep Yadav (above)-are strong contenders who became the first left-arm wrist spinner to win the purple cap.
Kuldeep, the most experienced, has continued his frequent runs. The 30 -year -old justified Delhi’s decision to maintain it, taking 12 wickets with his trademark flight and microscopic variations.
Meanwhile, Noor has done a breakout season. After spending the year behind Rashid Khan in Gujarat Titans, his 10 crore step in CSK gave him a lead role-and he responded with his team taking tireless wickets in a otherwise difficult campaign.
Despite their shared skills set and success, Noor and Kuldeep work differently.

So far, the left-arrow wrist spinners tally in IPL 2025.

Nur’s quick, whippy action and beyond-peer-pendic release generates strange angles and speeds. Kuldeep, more conservative, depends on the flow, loop and deception through the wind. Supporting him is the 24 -year -old Vignesh Puthur of Mumbai Indians, a crook who has not yet played senior cricket for Kerala.
It was seen through MI’s huge scouting system and advised by Rashid Khan at Mi Cape Town, Vignesh had an immediate impact against CSK with three wickets.
Another notable name is Kumar Karthikeya Singh of Rajasthan Royals, whose hybrid style has a wrist change and conservative spin is mixed – to fog out the lines.
Together, this group has provided any bowling type best economy rate this season: 7.09. It is also the third best for left -arm wrist spin in IPL history.
What is this effectiveness running?
Flowing. This season has changed about 50% of his delivery-an unprecedented division. Most of these have been Googlies, who have received 19 wickets (13 against right-hand) in the 7.08 economy.

This change in balance – from stock delivery to deception – has governed the current success.
But the big question is whether this trend can remain.
As more bowlers adopt the style and batsmen watch it more often, the element of mystery will fade. T20 cricket develops quickly, and novelty rarely remains a long -term novel.

For now, however, the left -arm wrist spin has found its moment. And IPL 2025 can be well remembered because once in this season the niche art was finally taken to the end.
