Pope Francis, 88, the oldest Pope, older than a century, died on Monday morning, although a quiet discussion that she could succeed, has already begun already.
While any male Catholic can be chosen in principle to sit on the Pope seat, historically, according to the Religion News Service, a successful platform has been selected from Sacred College of Cardinals since 1378.
Currently, the body has 252 cardinals that have been chosen by the Holy Father to serve as their advisors and assistants.
According to public reporting, there is a look at some of the most potential precursors to serve as the 267th Pope.

Cardinal Pitro Parolin, 70, Italy
Paroline, the secretary of the state of the Vatican, is the highest ranked diplomat in the holy C-the glory of the Catholic Church-and is believed to be the most likely to be selected at the top position in the cardinals.
His side among the cardinals at Sacred College, who will vote on the next pope, is due to his politically liberal status and his career in diplomacy, reported the New York Post.
Parolin, who spent part of his career in Mexico and Nicaragua, was appointed by the Pope Francis in 2014 and will possibly be seen as the expansion of the current papsi.

Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagel, 67, Philippines
Tagle is considered to be one of the forefront among voting cardinals and serves as a supporter-pilot for the first preacher’s section for the Gikastari, as well as the Chairman of the Religious Religious Commission.
He has been described as “Asian Pope Francis” especially for his equality, when it comes in a position to hug the LGBTQI community than their predecessors.
In an interview in 2015, Tagle stated that the Church’s “serious” status, divorce and single mothers were suffering on the LGBTQI community.
According to Catholic Herald, Tagle “will be welcomed by liberals, given the changing demographic of the church.”

Cardinal Peter Edo, 72, Hungary
There are many conservative cardinals, which are believed to have the top contenders for papy, including Cardinal Peter Edo, who have been important for the position of Francis on divorce and immigration.
Edo has argued that divorced or again married Catholics should not be allowed to achieve the holy community due to their position about “uncertainty of marriage”.
Catholic Herald said that after Francis’ tenure, a conservative Pope would send a powerful message about the direction taken by the church. “
ERDO is also very different from Francis on immigration and argued in 2015 that allowing refugees to be reconsidered is the same for human trafficking.

Cardinal Fridolin Ambongo Besanu, 65, Democratic Republic of Congo
Another conservative cardinal is considered a serious contender, the Cardinal Fridolin Ambongo Basengo from the War -Torn Nation of the Democratic Republic of Congo. According to the Associated Press, the membership of the Catholic Church in Africa is growing faster than elsewhere in the world.

The 65-year-old Ambongo, by the Catholic Church, disrupted the blessings of the Pope Francis of the same-lingo couples by the Catholic Church. In a letter signed by other African priests, he said he refused to follow Pontif’s declaration because such unions “are contrary to God’s will.”
Cardinal Remond Burke, 76, United States America
The native of Wisconsin of St. Louis and former Archbishop is considered a major American candidate. The 76 -year -old cardinal is also seen from the orthodox side of the church.

He is the proponent of Latin month, and has been important for Pope Francis about artificial contraceptive, LGBT issues and new language of the church around civil marriage. Burke was made a cardinal by Pope Benedict XVI in 2010.
Cardinal Matio Zuppies, 69, Italy

Zuppi was born in Rome. He is the chairman of the Italian Episopal Conference and is seen as an internal formula in Vatican, Francis who serves as the archbishop of Bologna.
69 -year -old Zuppies is seen as one of the favorite of Pope Francis. He was sent on a peace mission in Ukraine in 2023, where he met with President Volodimier Zelancesi. He was also sent to meet the President Joe Biden in the same year.
Zuppies was made a cardinal by Pope Francis in 2019.
Vote
Of 252 cardinals in Sacred College, only 138 are under 80 years of age and therefore allowed them to participate in the conclave, the Pope election process – although there are no age limit for the candidate that will serve as future pope.

After the death of a Pope, the conclave then holds a vote, and will continue to vote until the Pope is chosen by a two-thirds majority.
At that time, ballot papers will be burnt with a chemical that produces white smoke, unlike black smoke, to alert the world that a new pope has been chosen.
