The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Saturday officially advertised the post began its discovery for a new permanent head coach, in which interim coach Javed now showed interest in the director of the role of the high-demonstration center, instead, according to sources.
PCB has invited applications from level III qualified coaches with minimum 10 -year experience coaching national or domestic cricket teams.
The step indicates an infection from the current setup, which observed that former fast bowler Javed serves as an interim head coach in formats in the last several months.
Javed initially took over as a white-ball head coach in November, when Gary Kirsten stepped down shortly before Pakistan’s visit to Australia.
After the resignation of Jason Gillespie due to differences with the board, his responsibilities were expanded to include all formats next month.
Although Javed’s interim was scheduled to finish with the ICC men’s Champions Trophy 2025, it was briefly extended to cover the white-ball chain in New Zealand earlier this year.
This expansion is now over, PCB has decided not to further renew its role.
Despite taking a distinct step from the role of head coaching, sources suggest that Javed is interested in continuing his participation in Pakistan cricket with the director of the high performance center status.
The board has also advertised the role, which became vacant after the resignation of Madem Khan.
The board is allegedly working with limited options among former national players and can see abroad to fill coaching vacancy.
While the PCB has chosen for the first high-profile names, sources indicate that this time the major international figures are unlikely to pursue.
