According to the city’s top law enforcement officer, a popular Florida Spring Break Destination is hosting the students of college students every year.
Panama City Police Chief Junior Talamantez said on the department’s Facebook page on Sunday, “Panama City beach cannot be a spring break town.” “That time is over. Every year we try to manage it, and every year it brings more challenges. I am not ready to risk the security of my city, which no longer works.”
In the coming weeks, Talamantez said, the police would have had “serious discussion” about the future of the “spring brake season” with stakeholders in the roles of the city leadership.

“And I must be clear, our law enforcement officers should not expect to reduce the burden of an incident that is no longer aligning with the values or vision of this community,” he said. “It is unfair to continue that weight on the back of men and women who serve and protect this city every day.”
In the post, Talamantez thanked those visiting the city and did not cause trouble.
“For future doctors, nurses, engineers, teachers and leaders who came here for a break, you have been appreciated,” he said. “You made memories, enjoyed the beach, and showed respect. Most of you went home without problems, and how it should actually be.”

However, he had rigorous words for crisis.
“If you do guns, bad intentions and no respect for this city, we saw you. You thought you could mix it and get away with it,” he said. “You were wrong. Our officers were ready, and many of you ended in handcuffs.
“Some of you opened fire on petty arguments and social media drama. And when the phlegm went away, the difficult act disappeared. Our officials did not see the rigid criminals. They saw the children seen crying in the interview room. Ticketkok does not show that part, but our body cameras do.”
The city has long been a warm place for college students to catch some sun in March and April, but also for the troubles that come with thousands of visitors.
