And the real cross of this case is: When you are in jail, it seems that you are not committing crime anymore.”
To make cases more complex, Durham Police Department, like many others across the country, is dealing with significant staffing deficiency. He said that the police is diluted in response to the emergency, and it “becomes very disappointing for the authorities” when “they are working repeatedly with the same people,” he said.

Blackmon’s public defender, Monica Burnett, could not be reached for comment.
