President Donald Trump has warned Iran to abandon any discovery of nuclear weapons or abandon the risk of facing a possible military strike on its nuclear infrastructure, Roots Informed
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Trump claimed that Iran was deliberately progressing on nuclear dialogue with the United States. “I think they are tapping with us,” he said, after a recent meeting in Oman between American Special Envoy Steve Witcoff and a senior Iranian officer.
Both sides described Saturday’s talks as “positive” and “creative”. A second round is scheduled for the next weekend, which is likely to be held in Rome, according to a formula familiar with the plan.
Talks are called discovery in nature, with a discussion focused on underlining a broad structure for a possible agreement. However, Trump clarified that any deal should ensure that Iran leaves the ambitions of all nuclear weapons.
“Iran has to get rid of the concept of nuclear weapons. They cannot have a nuclear weapon,” he said.
Asked if American options involve a military strike on Tehran’s nuclear sites, Trump replied, “Of course it does.”
He said that Iran was “close” to create a nuclear weapon and urged to take fast action to avoid serious consequences.
The indirect talks between the US and Iran took place under the former President Joe Biden but there was some progress.
