Chennai Super Kings suffered a massive shock on Tuesday, when captain Ruturaj Gikwad was dropped from IPL 2025 due to a fragmented elbow.
CSK announced that former captain MS Dhoni will take over as captain for the rest of the season, starting with the match against Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday.
There are three players here who can replace Gikwad in the CSK lineup for KKR game:

Rahul Tripathi, who launched the season as a opener for CSK, is the most potential replacement for Gaikwad.
However, Tripathi is not in great form with the bat, he has scored just 30 runs in the first three matches before playing.
The work he does in favor of Tripathi is his experience. The right -handed batsman has played 98 IPL games, scoring 2,266 runs at a healthy strike rate of 139.02.

CSK also has the option to bring it to Deepak Huda.
Like Tripathi, Hooda made a poor start for IPL 2025, managing just seven runs from two matches.
The HUDA acquired by CSK for Rs 1.70 crore by CSK in the IPL 2025 auction conducts the International batting lineage, which in 2022 had a T20 Eye Hundred against Ireland.
Andre Siddharth/Sheikh Rashid
CSK can also see blood in one of its young Indian players, such as Andre Siddartha or Sheikh Rashid.
Siddha’s success was a success in 2024-25 with Tamil Nadu in the Indian domestic circuit.
Rashid, who has been part of the CSK set-up since 2023, is not yet to make his IPL debut. The Andhra batsman has been a consistent appearance in the domestic scene.
