The 49 -year -old actor, who is known to play the role of Randel Piercene in the NBC drama, revealed that he left his middle name, Kelby, until he was 16 years old – but returned to his original name to pay tribute to his late father.
Speaking Kelly Clarkson ShowHe told the host: “I had gone by my middle name, I went to ‘Kelby’ till the age of 16.”
He said that at that time, he wanted his own name to be separated from his father’s name, Sterling Brown Junior, and his grandfather’s name Sterling Brown Senior.
“I am sterling Kelby Brown, but I wanted my name, and felt as Sterling was like an old man’s name,” Heaven Star told Clarkson.
But when his father died at the age of 45, Brown realized that he wanted to wear his father’s name proudly.
“Because when I was 10 years old, he died, until I turned 16 years old and I did not hear his name for five and a half years, I was so, I just want to hear that name again, so I asked people to say sterling.”
Both Brown and Clarkson became emotional, the host said, “It was very cute and beautiful.”
