A little more to share: When Nintendo unveiled Switch 2, it was unclear about the chip that is powering the device, only mentioning that it was a custom design from Nvidia. This does not list any glasses other than general information – up to 120fps on the device, 4K, VRR, etc. on 60fps. Thankfully, Nvidia has highlighted a little more on the subject.
NVIDIA has posted a blog, highlighting the facilities provided by their hardware, which is beyond the information provided to Switch 2. Among them is Ray Tresing Support.
While Ray Tracing is also available on other console, developers actually took some time to start using it. Spider-Man: Miles Moralese and Cyberpank 2077 Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X were first couples of the title to apply RT. Shortcut notes states that by January, the list of PS5 titles with RT support has increased to 58. However, some provide ray tracing only on the PS5 Pro version.
Another batch -outing is the right nintendo that DLSS has support, now a mainstay for desktop gaming. Team Red’s platform-oriented super resolution (FSR) has recently cheated in gaming laptops, console and handheld PCs. Both technologies allow the system to increase the quality of image by maintaining performance, but the switch 2 is the first gaming handheld to offer better DLSS of 2 Nvidia. Thanks to its tenser core, Nvidia claims that the nintendo’s hybrid has 10 times the graphical performance of the original switch.
It all looks great on paper, but is rubbed here. While DLSS and Ray Tracing on Switch 2 are a plus, it is dependent on developers to apply it. We are not going to play by taking advantage of these facilities right now. The studio took some time to prioritize it in the PS5 and XBSX Games. Rockstar did not add it to GTA 5 until 2022 – two years after the introduction of the console. It will probably take more time before the developers apply them on devices with a comparatively small screen.
Even a TV is doc on a TV offering Switch 2, given the increase in resolution, the device is a hard push to market as a handheld gaming unit. Its 8 -inch performance at 120fps in 1080p is more than enough for that use case. Therefore, developers will probably not hurry to apply DLSS and RT in patch for some time or new game. NVIDIA did not mention any sport in development that will either implement technology.
More pressure problems with switch 2 are its price point and its sports. At $ 450 for sub-culture performance, several switch owners are taking a hard pass on advanced models. A target of new $ 70 to $ 80 for Nintendo’s new and earlier games has also raised many fans’ hexes. While the device is clearly a competent handheld, it is not equal to the home console except its price.
