Qualcomm has sent an invitation for its next launch event to be held in China on 2 April. The company says (translated) that “powerful Snapdragon flagships are coming new products” and it is thought that it will be the next chapter in the story of Snapdragon 8 series.
In October 2025, Qualcomm announced Snapdragon 8 Elite, switched a switch to his mobile hardware and put the Oryan Chip in its origin (forgive the punishment). That hardware has inserted major equipment such as OnePlus 13 and Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, but now Qualcomm is preparing to come forward.
The next step is expected to give us something more economical. This hardware is likely to land with the name Snapdragon 8, but with a modifier – last year it was called Snapdragon 8S General 3. But due to changes in naming from Qualcomm for this generation, we do not know if we are receiving Snapdragon 8S General 4 or Snapdragon 8S allite.
It is thought that Qualcomm is going to reserve Elite name for its top key chip, so it is likely that it will land as Snapdragon 8S General 4.
Why does Snapdragon 8s General 4 matter?
Flagship phones are expensive and use a route hardware to reduce costs which is slightly lower than the ladder. This is often powerful only as a result of some main elements, but some sacrifices are made elsewhere. Also remember that Qualcomm already has two levels for Snapdragon 8 Elite, with an 8-core version and 7-core version.
Usually it is the result in hardware that is not quite powerful in intensive functions, perhaps unable to maintain graphical performance for the same length. Equally, it can run cooler, so the slimmer can be better fit in the phone, as well as being cheaper.
At the same time, day-to-day performance is often indispensable when you are browsing online or taking photos on your phone, even casual gaming is fully playable.
Snapdragon 8S General 3 found its way in phones like Motorola Razr+ (2024), but more common in devices where the price is an important factor. Brands such as Honor, Redmi, Realme and Xiaomi often use such hardware. Certainly, many of the phones do not make it in the US, but Motorola is expected to launch new equipment soon that can use this hardware.
Accurate details can be seen, but this announcement may trigger the next wave of the inexpensive major phone.
