Lahore: On the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Senior Minister Maryum Aurangzeb on Saturday paid stunning visits to hospitals in disguise, assessing healthcare facilities and patient care.
The minister paid a trip to Jinnah Hospital and Lahore Children’s Hospital, which proceeds through various counters as an ordinary citizen to evaluate services.
During the inspection, he examined the hospital wards, assessed hygiene, and reviewed the availability of doctors and medical staff.
Aurangzeb also interacted with the patients of the patients to inquire about the provision of free medicines and the quality of treatment.
The Punjab CM paid amazing visits to take stock of the medical facilities available at Jinnah Hospital along with a field hospital in Harbanpura.
During the visit to Jinnah Hospital, he ordered the suspension of the hospital’s Medical Superintendent (MS) on complaints of mismanagement.
While visiting the Field Hospital in Harabanpura, he checked the availability and quality of medicines, interacted with patients and inquired about the facilities available in Field Hospital.
The Chief Minister directed that the supply of medicines in government hospitals in Punjab and immediate payment of arrears of government hospitals should be ensured. He further directed that immediate steps should be taken for the provision of free medicines in government hospitals.
He presided over a special meeting to review the administrative matters of Mayo Hospital. He directed that the list of drugs should be displayed with the installation of electronic boards for the list of drugs in each government hospital.
The Chief Minister advised to activate and expose “Maryam Nawaz Grievance Counters” in all government hospitals for the convenience of patients, in addition to providing mist fans in open waiting areas.
On the instructions of CM Maryam, patients will be called and taken response. He instructed that chairs and benches should be provided in the waiting room. He directed the concerned stakeholders to visit hospitals on a daily basis and prepare a checklist report. “More than one organization will prepare a checklist to find out the actual status of hospitals. Checklist will include doctors, staff attendance, free medicines, laboratory testing, biomedical equipment.”
The Chief Minister also directed that monitoring of waiting list for operations and tests in public hospitals should be ensured. “Parking facility, availability of cafeteria and wheelchairs will also be tested on a daily basis.”
