The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has decided to leave the ODI series from its upcoming tour of Pakistan, rather than only to play the T20I. The decision was taken in coordination with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) as the two teams focus on the preparation of the upcoming Asia Cup and ICC T20 World Cup.
Originally, Bangladesh was prescribed for three Odis and Future Tour programs (FTP) for three Odis and Three T20s to visit Pakistan in May. However, both boards have now agreed to change the ODI with a five -match T20I series, allowing their teams to fix their squads for global tournaments.
The 2025 Asia Cup will be hosted by India in September and will be played in the T20 format, aligning with the preparation of the T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in India and Sri Lanka in 2026.
Apart from the visit to Pakistan, Bangladesh will also host the three -match T20I series against Pakistan in July. The series, which was finalized during the recent ICC Champions Trophy discussion between PCB and BCB presidents, is not part of FTP, but both teams have been determined to further strengthen the World Cup preparation.
A BCB official said, “We have decided to play T20I instead of ODI in the upcoming tour of Pakistan as part of our preparation for the next T20 World Cup and Asia Cup.” “When Pakistan travels to Bangladesh, they are scheduled to play three T20I in Dhaka on 20 July, 22 and 24, just before his visit to the West Indies,” he said.
