US President Donald Trump hosted the Ramadan Iftar dinner before his second term in the office and thanked the “hundreds of thousands of thousands” of Muslim Americans for his support during the 2024 presidential election.
Trump said in the state dining room, “As we are in the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, start me by telling me to your Muslim friends – Ramadan Mubarak.”
The White House program was attended by Muslim community leaders, diplomats, which included Pakistan Ambassador US Rizwan Saeed and government officials.
Trump said that the Muslim community was “there for us in November”, referring to last year’s election, and in return, vowed to be “there for you”.
He said, “We are making our promises for the Muslim community. My administration is engaged in tireless diplomacy to create permanent peace in the Middle East, creating a historic Abraham agreement, which everyone said that we will be impossible, and now we are going to start filling them,” he said.
The Abraham Agreement is a series of agreements that were signed to normalize relations between Israel and several Arab countries during the previous Trump President’s post.
“We had four great countries and despite the importance of the importance of Abraham. But I think it is going to fill it very quickly. People are already talking about it. They should have been long ago. It should have been done.”
“We all want peace,” he later said.
Several people of the community voted against the then Vice President Kamala Harris to oppose the support of Israel’s war on Gaza on 7 October 2023, attacks. Some people credit Trump with a ceasefire, even though it happened before entering the White House.
Trump had repeatedly vowed on the campaign mark to end the struggle, and a ceasefire was agreed on a ceasefire shortly before assuming office in January.
However, Israel resumed its aggressive on the coastal enclave surrounded earlier this month, breaking the truses with attacks that kill hundreds of Palestinians. Amidst the disclosure tragedy, Trump stood in lockstap with Israel and is trying to supply the country with billions of dollars in new military aid.
He has proposed controversial to take ownership of Gaza and displace about 2 million Palestinians that live there to develop the area in their image. The proposal has been widely banned.
