Prosecutor-General Paulo Gont said on Tuesday that the allegations that were facing the “at all costs,” to keep Bolsoro in power, in a multistap scheme, which intensified after the far-flung politician’s defeat with the current President.
As in his February prosecution, Gaett said that the plot included a plan to kill Lula and Justice Alexandre de Mores, which was kept under supervision by alleged conspirators.
Gaett said that the scheme did not proceed as the accused failed to bring the commander of the army on the board at the last minute.
“Disappointment overwhelmed the members of the criminal organization, however, did not give up the violent seizure of power, not even after taking the oath of the elected President of the Republic,” Gonet said.
This was a reference to 8 January 2023, a riot, when Bolsoro’s dye-hard supporters created a storm in the Supreme Court, President Mahal and Congress in Bascilia, a week after Lula took over.
