Former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal was rushed to the hospital after a major hearing attack during the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPL) match in Savar.
The left -handed batsman, who has retired from international cricket, has passed through an emergency angioplasty after complaining of chest pain during the first innings of the match. ESPNcricinfo,
Match referee Debbrarta Paul said that his team Mohammadan Sporting Club was led for an over against Shinepukur Cricket Club, but then KPJ Specialized Hospital and Nursing Home were taken.
The cricketer then returned to the ground to go to another hospital. However, when this was not possible due to their condition, they were withdrawn to the original health facility, where the tests confirmed a hindrance in their heart.
Talking to reporters, BKSP’s leading cricket coach Montu Dutta said that during the toss, the cricketer was in good souls and later exited the field and went to the hospital in his car after feeling ill.
Dutta said, “The doctors there did not want to let him leave at that time, but Tamim left anyway and was arranging an air ambulance himself.”
Meanwhile, the official statement made by doctors said: “He (Tamim) returned to us in a serious condition. We can call it a heart attack, and we later did an angiogram and angioplasty to remove the obstruction.”
The statement said that the medical process has gone smoothly.
The former opener announced his retirement from international cricket in January 2025. The 35-year-old scored more than 15,000 runs in all formats and hit 25 centuries-the most by Bangladesh batsman. He last played for Bangladesh in September 2023 in his 2–0 ODI series defeat at home against New Zealand.
