This Taj Palace, New Delhi this Friday (March 21, 2025) was an exciting evening as the audience saw the heart heating up the hearts of Indian women writers on the occasion. Autore Awards 2025 Winner announcements. A joint venture between JK Paper and The Times of India celebrates the Auther Awards, women writers who have added value and creativity to the literary place. From writers, publishers and academics to booking lovers, politicians and artists- the sixth edition of the Auther Awards was participated in some of the biggest names in the literary world.
International Booker Award 2022 Winner Geetjali Shree Was the chief guest for the Auther Awards 2025. Whereas, actress-writer Ila Arun was a guest of honor for the event.

Autor Awards 2025 Winner Four major categories were declared, namely imagination, non-sculpture, children’s literature and debut. A Life achievement awardA prize (based on an online poll), and a best manuscript award in the popular option category.
Autor Awards 2025- Best writer Katha was given to two women writers this time! While Tania James won the award for ‘Loot’ (published by Penguin Hamish Hamilton), Namita Gokhale won the award for ‘Never Land’ (published by Speaking Tiger).
Auther Awards 2025- Best writer Non-Fiction was given not one but two women writers. The award was awarded to ‘The Personal is Political: A Activist Memorial’ (published by Harper Collins Publication India), and ‘The Increpensation: Bhim Koregaon and The Search for Democracy in India’ for Alpa Shah.
Autor Awards 2024- Best Writer Debut Award was honored for his book ‘The Fall of Kabul: Despat from Kaos’ (published by Bloomsbury India).
The Autor Awards 2024 for the best children’s author was also given to two women writers! Writer Kripa published by the Actara Trust for his book ‘Art Is a Voisevika’, while Andaleb Wajid won the award for ‘The Henna Start-Up’, which has been published by Duckbil Books.
The popular option award was won by two female writers: his book ‘STM: Student-Education’ and ‘Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji’ for Divasargun Kaur, to get the maximum number of maximum votes online, his book ‘STM: Student-Met’ and Divasargun Kaur.
Veteran Indian writer and journalist, Shanta Gokhale, was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for his timely contribution to Indian writing.
And finally, Tista Hijli was given to Tista Hijli for ‘Love of Love’ for the best manuscript. Meanwhile, Indrani A. The DO was the best manuscript runner-up. The award recognizes budding writers and motivates them to increase their imaginations.
Selection process
Longlist, shortlist and winners were selected after several layers of screening for the Auther Awards 2025, followed by a detailed discussion between a panel of noted jury. This year the Times of India received more than 2000 entries, presented by both publishers and writers, for the prestigious Women’s Writers Awards Which is the first of its kind in India. Between December 2023 and November 2024, the jury considered books by women published in India.
