Doha/Kabul: Taliban on Thursday freed an American citizen detained in Afghanistan for more than two years, which after direct conversation between American mortgage messenger Adam Bohaler and Taliban officials in Kebul, a source said that the release was stated on the release. Roots,
George Glizman, who was detained in 2022 while visiting Kabul as a tourist, left Afghanistan on Thursday evening. Glezmann and Boehler are expected to travel to the United States later.
US State Secretary Marco Rubio on Thursday issued a statement confirming Glizman’s release.
Thursday’s meeting in Kabul marked the highest level of direct conversation between the United States and the Taliban since President Donald Trump came to power in January.
According to a statement from the Afghan Foreign Ministry, Bohrler met the Foreign Minister of the Taliban administration, Amir Khan Mutki.
The statement said, “During this meeting, Afghanistan-US was discussed on bilateral relations, release of prisoners and provisions of consular services for Afghans in the United States.”
It said that the meeting also included the former American Special Representative of Afghanistan Zalme Khaliljad.
Qatar, a Gulf Arabian state, represents American diplomatic interests in the Taliban -ruled Afghanistan, coordinated with the bohaler, to interact with the Taliban authorities to interact on Glizman’s release, the formula said.

‘Goodwill gesture’
The source said that the Taliban officials released Glizman as a “goodwill gesture” and in return as a part of a deal to free any Afghan prisoners organized by the US, the source said.
In January, the US freed an Afghan convicted by an American court on charges of drug trafficking and terrorism in exchange for two American citizens held in Afghanistan.
Qatari officials were also involved in a conversation for the deal, which began during the administration of former US President Joe Biden and led the release of two Americans, Ryan Corbett and William McCantty.
A third American citizen, Mahmud Habibi, is considered to be in custody in Afghanistan.
Qatar’s Foreign Ministry did not immediately respond to the request of the comment.
‘High level diplomacy’
An American citizen’s second high-profile release was organized abroad among diplomacy by Glezmann Boehler.
Bouler was involved in the efforts that Mark Phogel, a teacher of American school, was released from Russia last month.
Glizman, a mechanic for delta airlines in Atlanta, was visiting Kabul after detaining by the Taliban in December 2022, according to the Foli Foundation, who was in custody abroad under the supervision of cases of Americans.
The Foundation said Glizman was in touch with his wife sporadic telephone, as he was detained, and had a health condition that deteriorated while detention.
