Sources told ESPN on Wednesday that McNease will reached an agreement to become the next head coach in Ved Nek State.
Mcneese, who won the Southland Conference regular season and tournament championship, is ready to play in the NCAA tournament against Clamson on Thursday (TRUTV, 3:15 PM ET).
This news will be made official after McNeen’s exit from the tournament.
Wade on Wednesday admitted that he had contacted Volfpack about his head coaching situation.
Wade said, “There is no need to hide it.” “People are reading it on social media. This is not a secret and I am not asking them to do anything that I am not ready to do. It’s not good if you don’t address it and if you sit there and BS ‘Know them. They know. They can read the right through BS so that you (say) that you just (say) are the same.”
Wade spent the last two sessions in McNe’s, won 57 games and going 36-2 in conference play, back-to-back regular-session and conference tournament titles.
He spent five seasons as head coaches at LSU since 2018-22, leading Tigers for three of the four NCAA tournaments, including the first SEC regular season title of the program in a decade in 2019. Wade became 105–51 in total in LSU.
LSU fired on Wade on the eve of the NCAA tournament in 2022, when the school received notice of allegations of five -level violations from NCAA and a level II violation of Wade. After the report, he was suspended shortly before the 2019 NCAA tournament, when reports revealed that a federal wiretap captured him while discussing the “strong-sage proposal” for recruitment.
He was eventually given a 10-game suspension for a two-year show-causal order and a three-level violation in June 2023, even after a player made impenetrable payments to the former fiancé, as well as after failing to cooperate in an investigation and promote an atmosphere of compliance.
Before taking over at LSU, Wade was the head coach at VCU for two sessions, won 51 games and won a regular season title. He led Ram in the NCAA tournament in both seasons. He also spent two seasons in Chattanogo, with Mox going 27–7 in Sokon Play during his time.
