The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Tuesday announced that it has distributed 27 billion rupees in the new currency notes of all sects so far, in 17,000 bank branches for the public.
The SBP dismissed the report, saying that it would not print new banknotes for Eid ul Fitr.
“SBP has continued its long practice of issuing fresh banknotes to commercial banks on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, taking advantage of its broad nationwide branch network to facilitate public access to fresh banknotes,” said in a handout.
Similarly, it has been said, arrangements have been made to ensure that the ATM network of banks issues uninterrupted good quality banknotes for the general public during the festive season.
To ensure efficient distribution of fresh banknotes and their availability in all commercial bank branches, “SBP has also deployed its cash monitoring teams to inspect onsite for the general public, to ensure the dismissal of fresh banknotes.”
The first day of EID is expected to fall on 31 March as the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparko) has released a forecast for the visibility of the next month’s semi chandelier based on scientific assessment and modern observation data.
The country’s space agency said in its analysis that, according to the astronomical model, Shawwal Moon will appear on March 30, showing that Eid ul Fitr is likely to be seen in Pakistan on 31 March 2025.
