Wtf?! Older hardware usually slow down over time as new software becomes less customized and components are low with age. However, speedRures and researchers have discovered the opposite effect on SNES. While the event is complicated, its effect on the gameplay is purely theoretical.

Tinkerners and Speedroners have recently discovered that audio processors in many aging super NES console are now running on a little more clock frequencies. While the difference is currently only a few hundred Hz, research suggests that the effect over time can be more pronounced.

Alan “Dwangoac” Cecil, a developer of the speeding tools, increased awareness about the first discrepancy last month. To further investigate, he collected data from more than 100 SNES owners using a flash cartridge and a clinical Rome. The results increase modest but consistent speed, which may be affected by heat.

Depending on 143 reactions, the average of the SNES DSP rate is 32,076 Hz, which increases 8 Hz from cold to hot. Warm DSP rate goes from 31,965 to 32,182 Hz, 217 Hz range. Therefore, the temperature is less important. Why? How does it affect sports? We do not know. As yet. DOCS.GETGRIST.com/fpwwkqdcnxxr … See.

SPC700 of SNES, a secondary CPU that controls the console’s Sony audio processor, officially runs on 32 MHz. However, Cecil’s study found that to reach the frequencies to 32.3 MHz, suggesting that the incident is gradually faster than two decades.

Third -party documents of 2003 ran the SPC700 at 32.04 MHz, which matched the speed used by the snees emulator in the early 2000s. Cecil noted that the average frequency has increased to 32.076 MHz. The potential cause is the ceramic resonant of the SPC700, which can uplift and move depending on the temperature.

For most collectors still, the effect is minor using aging, yellow SNES console, potentially causes only a slight change in the audio pitch if the processor runs more than 200 Hz. However, the implications for simulation accuracy and speed remain the subject of debate.

A fast sound processor can save some frames to players, when every time a game loads audio or other data, potentially can shave a second of a second frame for a long time and puts a long -term records. While Cecil suspects that the impact is enough to affect the record, the variations between the console can complicate the development of simulation equipment striving for the correct accuracy.

Research in the event is still in its early stages. As more SNES units are analyzed, researchers will get a clear understanding of its causes and effects. Additionally, highlighting more historical data may determine whether the console is gradually accelerating or if the SPC700 is always operated within these frequency variations due to its low-perfect design.
