Washington: The United States has expelled the South African ambassador to Washington, accused of being hostile to the country and President Donald Trump.
“South African Ambassador to the United States is no longer welcome to our great country,” the state secretary Marco Rubio posted on X on Friday.
Abrahim Rasool “is a race-biting politician who hates America and hates @Potus,” he said, referring to Trump by his White House X account.
“We have nothing to discuss with him, and therefore he is considered a personality non -Greta.”
The expulsion is the latest growth in increasing stress between Washington and Pretoria.
In February, Trump, citing US aid in South Africa a law in the country, said that he alleges that he allows white farmers to seize the land.
One of Trump’s closest colleagues is South African -born billionaire Elon Musk, who has accused the government of South African President Cyril Ramfosa of being an openly “racist ownership law”.
Land ownership in South Africa is a controversial issue, in which most of the fields are owned by three decades after the end of apartheid in the farm and the government is under pressure to implement reforms.
During a G20 event in South Africa last month, Ramfosa said that the US leader made a “amazing” call with Trump soon after taking over in January.
But later the relationship “began to go a little away from the rail,” he said.
