Drone expert DJI has partnered with Chinese auto giant bide to make Lingayuan (“Spright Kite”), which puts a drone station on top of a car.
At first glance, the idea looks a bit foolish. Actually, it also looks a little foolish at the other hand. But we believe, this is for real. You can see it in the video advertisement below:
As the footage shows, Lingayuan is essentially climbing on a roof and designed for integration with byd vehicles. This autonomous drone enables take-off, landing and real-time filming, controls the entire process through the central touchscreen display of the car, where the livestream footage of the drone also appears.
But if you are already imagining to film your next road trip with DJI’s camera drone, it is capturing your motor’s cinematic cinematic shots as it hurts with a remote highway against the backdrop of a grand setting sun, just keep in mind: You can drive only 33 miles (54 km per hour). Looks like you can always speed up the video.
If you go to any fast, the drone will probably leave you and possibly find a new life elsewhere.
Also, whenever you want to deploy or give land to the aircraft, you have to slow down to 15 mph (25 km per hour). Then, this can make things difficult for drones more rapidly as it tries to land on a moving target.
BYD first unveiled the plan for a roof-mounted drone system in 2023, and is now available for all BYD models. The package includes a withdrawal landing pads, charging stations and video editing software. It also includes a drone, of course, although not specific models are reported. Going by advertisement, it is a very capable Air 3S quadcopter of DJI.
Lingayua is currently a China exclusive and cost 16,000 Chinese yuan (about $ 2,200). There is no word on this yet that it is coming to other countries.
