Each library is both uniform and very different from each other. All of them have their own unique system, and it is very difficult to find out what you are looking at when you first go to help anyone. The library, which are very difficult for everyone, also have difficulties due to their inaccessibleness. In the previous articles of the article series, we talked about museums, shopping malls and banks. Although there are some ways to make these places accessible, there are different ways in the mobility of libraries. Like everywhere, making libraries accessible is a process, and this process is slightly more wide than other places. It is very important to remember that the library has not only books and has to evaluate all services offered by libraries.

It is very important that the website, which is the first channel through which visitor reaches the library, is accessible. You can benefit from this blog post to make your website accessible. But the websites of libraries are not just about what is written here. At the same time, each online resources on the library website should be accessible. In addition, information should be added to the website that your library is accessible, disabled people can easily go where they want to find the resources in the library, just find resources that they want and benefit from library events. Apart from these, transport information should be given in this section, such as public transport on the path of the library is accessible and in which part of parking is easy for people with disabilities to reach a private vehicle. In addition, accessible signs should be hung in parking sites and entrances, and it should be ensured that it is using wide doors and ramps at the entrance of the library using all.

Library staff must have the ability to help disabled visitors. Employees should receive sign language training, know wheelchair-friendly roads in the library and know direct visitors there, visually known the use of impaired section and the use of headphones. It is important that they can easily communicate with disabled visitors.

Each region of the library that can be used by visitors must be suitable for disabled visitors. Every place should be thought very carefully such as library, toilets, relaxing areas, study areas, stairs, lifts, entrances of squares with books. Arrangements should be made so that the disabled visitors can move comfortably in the library and reach the resources they want. In addition, tables, computers and shelves should be suitable for wheelchair users, and a part of the information desk where the library staff is located, should be arranged for wheelchair users.

For visually impaired visitors, speaking books, easy-to-half, brales and large print books can be a special section. At the same time, separate classes can be made where they can listen to books. In addition, some computers of the library may have screen adapters and special software. It is necessary to add subtitle to audio resources for hearing, to provide headphones for events in the library, and/or to be supported by sign language.

With our navigation service for blindy, we try to enable them to move freely into the blindly impaired libraries as they do in all internal locations.
