Every year, U.S. News and World Report Runs thousands of American colleges and universities based on many factors, school input and research. Although many critics continue to attack the ranking in general and especially the US news approach, there is no doubt that it is the most influential of all college rankings. (See our previous blog post discussing problems with an alternative approach for college rankings and college rankings.)

Today, US News released its new ranking. Harvard and Stanford tied up in American business schools for a total of number one, while Thunderbird Global School of Management received top honors in international spiology among American business schools. MIT was at the top for engineering graduate schools; Yale for Law School; Harvard for Medical School – Research, and Washington University (Seattle) for Medical School – Primary Care.

For the National Graduate University Ranking, Harvard and Princeton tied to the top honors.

Many of the top names will be familiar with international students; However, there are many other categories of ranking that show excellent schools that cannot be so well known worldwide. For example, Bodoin College and Pomona College are ranked 6th in liberal art category-excellent, well-respected school in America, but not well known internationally; And St. Mary’s College of Maryland and New College of Florida Public Liberal Arts are ranked 4th and 5th in schools.
