Mikel Artetta accused his arsenal players of lack of required standards to win the Premier League after a 1-0 domestic defeat to West Ham United on Saturday.
Jarod Boven’s 44th -minute Diving Header was sufficient to win a surprising victory for visitors at the Emirates Stadium, as Arsenal hit just two shots on the target in a subdayed display.
The result left the eight points of Liverpool leaders, who can increase the profit in double figures with a win in Manchester City on Sunday.
After injuries to Kai Howlez, Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelly and Baukeyo Saka, there were without a recognized striker with midfielder Mikel Merino against Gunner West Ham, which were called as an alternative option.
Asked whether the further absence was to blame, Arteta said: “No, and I refuse it completely because I am talking about the players’ standards and teams that we played today , Includes me.
“And it was nowhere to the levels that we have the opportunity to win the Premier League. Today, we were very consistent, yes, but about football is about what you do today and today, nowhere nowhere Is.”
Arteta could not hide her frustration, when Arsenal missed the opportunity to apply pressure to her title rivals.
“Even though we had (possession) we had and 20 shots, I never felt that we were standard and at the level we needed,” he said. “First there is more danger and then they are not allowed to run because we have lost a lot of balls that we allowed to run the West Ham in a very dangerous position.
“We have to be (angry). I hope we are too much because we have not hit the levels today, and I am very responsible for it, so I am very, very angry.”
When Liverpool defeated the city, the title race was over, it was noted that, Artetta said: “It’s not in our hands. For me, I really, I am really angry about those things. Which is in our hands, and we did not do so as we could do and today’s performance and results. “
