One of the more interesting things to be seen in MLB Spring Training is a player who is a new position, and there is no dearth of such situations in this season. Sometimes, a player changes the situation due to a decline in defense or avoiding injury. The second time, this is because they left the teams or former team partner in free agency. Or, in the case of a player in this list, it can only be that he is sufficient to be defensively elite in many positions.
There are six situation changes to monitor this spring.

Jose Altuve: 2B to LF
The biggest position change in this spring is undoubtedly transferring the Astro Jose Altuve from another base to the left area. Altuve, 34, once ensured that it gets on the other, rating well by both eye tests and advanced metrics. In 2015, Altuve gave the Al Gold Glove Award for its defensive skills.
But? In fact, since 2022, Altuve ranks as the worst defender in any situation in baseball, with minus -41 defensive runs survived.
Throughout its big career, Aluve has never started a game in any situation in another place, so the Left Field will be a new challenge for the Field Hall of Famer. And when he is enough athletic to visit the outfield – and is one of the smallest left areas in baseball at Dicin Park in Houston, in which Craford Box – Altuway’s arm strength can prove to be an issue for Astro. It is one of the largest storylines entering the 2025 season.
Mike Trout: CF to RF
This is a step that feels that it works for some time. In this season, the priority of angels is getting to play more and more games as much as possible, and this requires it to keep it as healthy as possible. And so, in an attempt to wear on your body and reduce tearing, the trout is going from the center to the right.
There is no question that trout is capable of manning in the right area. In addition, he told reporters that he was going to work with Angels Instructor Tori Hunter, who successfully transitioned from the center field to the right at the end of his career.
The reality is that if the angels really wanted to ensure that the trout remains healthy, they would simply make him a nominated hitter every day. But the superstar will probably push against him, with his desire to play the field.
All other recent plans to keep trout healthy have failed. Perhaps this will be what works.
Alex Bramanman: 3b to 2B (probably?)
The newest member of Boston Red Sox is not only in a new ballpark, but, apparently, preparing a new position. The second base has been an area of need in Boston in recent years, and when he has started only one game in his career, a certain-handed Bremann will probably make a smooth transition.
But unlike some other players of the list, Bremann should probably not go from its original position. The two -time World Series Champion won the Al Gold Glove Award last season, while both DRS and OAA had a rating above average in the hot corner. Meanwhile, on the third basis of Boston, Rafael Davors, have been an average-average defender throughout their career.
Nevertheless, Breman’s signature was expected that he would play in second place, and the developers have worked hard and probably made their displeasure about leaving their position, told reporters that he plays third. And does not want to move. It will be interesting to see how the manager Alex Kora and Company solve it. Either way, Bremann helps Boston defensively, but it is a position to take an eye.
Mookie Bets: Full -time SS from Part -time SS
Like Diza Wu, it seems that we are constantly discussing silent bats going to the shortstop for the second spring. But this time, this is not due to emergency. With the signing of Michael Conforto and the return of Teser Hernandez, after the re -combination of his outfield in winter, Bates will have a full -time shortstop after playing half a season in ’24. Playing again in Infield is a possibility for Bates for years, but he is one of the best right fielders that the game has seen, so it makes sense to keep it there.
Now, Bates will get a chance to focus on playing completely short, to prepare with a complete spring training. In the last season, in a small sample, he looked like a person who had played the situation earlier. Bates evaluated quite well by defensive metrics, saving from +3 defensive runs. Making throw many times was an issue, but this region worked on Offsen.
The three -time world series is one of the best athletes in the champion game, and if any is there we can assume that there will not only be an infection in a new situation, but will also excel there, it is Muki Bates.
Jazz Chisholm Junior: 3B to 2B
Unlike other players in this list, Jazz Chisholm Junior has a widespread experience of playing in his 2025 position. At the end of his tenure with Marlins, Chisholam played a full -time center area, but when he arrived in the big league, he came as a shortstop before leaving to another basis.
Yankis was required on a third basis when acquired Chisholm on the deadline of previous summer trade, and it was a sufficient short -term solution there. -2 Despite rating as DRS, they classified as well as above average above average, which rated them as +6.
But now, Chisholm will return to his familiar home on a second basis, with the departure of Gliber Torres from Yankis Infield. The Bahamas native has always been athletic, who has served well while walking in the positions. During his previous stent in the second, he evaluated as the elite in the position, with plus marks in both DRS and OAA. After years of defensive laps in Kestone, Yanki should enjoy a large boost with Chisholm in second place.
Jonathan India: 2B to LF
Jonathan India is a solid player, and his best equipment has always been his bat, with the ability to go on a high clip, but in the last few sessions in Cincinnati, one to find and hide a place for him in the lineup The place is defensively became an issue. After Altuve, India evaluated as the second worst defender in MLB by defensive run. But unlike Ultuve, who was once an average-average defender on a second basis, was never a reputation in India.
Now playing in Canasus City after an offsen trade for Royals, India left the ground, where they would need to quickly familiarize themselves with one of the biggest outfields in baseball. We will see how long it takes to adjust it to your new house.
