In a latest development, ISSF, the World Governing Body of Shooting announced that the shooters in the 50m Rifle 3P final at the Los Angeles Olympics will be seen competing in the first format of only three series, standing in the final and competing in the first format before standing.
Apart from this change, which will begin on January 1, 2026, ISSF also announced that the format of the mixed team in shotguns and pistol events would be converted into the final elimination format of the top four team from the qualification round as compared to the first format of the gold medal and bronze medal format.
ISSF also announced that the number of shooters who compete in the shotgun and the men’s 25 -meter rapid fire event would increase from six shooters to eight shooters in the final.
“These proposals were finalized after the meeting of the ISSF Technology Committee in February, showing representation from the Chairpersons of the ISSF Athlete Committee and other disciplines committee. All the changes were agreed by our athletes and technical committees before sending IOC initially.
